Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
Spray 12 muffin cups with Crisco No Stick Spray; set aside.
FOR THE MUFFINS:
In a large bowl combine oats, flour, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
Cut in shortening using pastry blender (or 2 knives) until coarse crumbs form. Add egg, orange juice, milk, fruit bits and banana. Stir just until blended.
Fill muffin cups almost full.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool 5-10 minutes in pan; remove from pan.
Spread warmed preserves over each muffin; sprinkle with finely chopped fruit bits.
