    • 2 pounds potatoes;
    • 1 large onion;
    • salt and pepper;
    • 1 1/4 cups milk;
    • 2 tbsps butter.


    1. Peel and finely slice the potatoes and onion.
    2. Layer the potato slices and onion in a shallow ovenproof dish, sprikling eacj layer with some salt and pepper.
    3. Pour the milk over them, and dot with butter.
    4. Bake, uncovered, in an oven preheated to 350° f for 1,1/2 hours, or until the potatoes are soft and golden-brown on top.
