      RECIPE TITLE "Spicy Shrimp Salad" Author: Taru Talwar, Mumbai, India

    One of each: red, yellow,and green bell peppers
    100gms bean sprouts
    250 gms cleaned and deveined shrimps
    2 heaped tablespoons dessicated coconut
    half tsp. ginger powder (or one tsp. fresh grated ginger)
    one tsp. red chilly powder or black pepper powder
    1 tbsp vegetable oil
    2 tbsps vinegar
    salt to taste
    a quarter cup of water


    1. Julienne the bell peppers discarding all the seeds and stems. Dunk the shrimps in boiling water for two minutes and then drain.
    2. Heat the oil in a wok or saucepan, then add the dessicated coconut, pepper or chilly powder, ginger, vinegar and water. Cook for two minutes on medium heat.
    3. Mix this dressing with the peppers, sprouts, shrimps and salt . Serve chilled on a bed of lettuce.
    4. Variations: Cooked french beans or cubed chicken could be replaced with shrimps.
